Todos Santos






We just got back from a few days in Todos Santos, a little surfing/artist village in Baja California Sur, MX. Away from the TGI Mcfunster's of Cabo's resort chains, a scenic drive up the Pacific side of Baja will transport you to the charm and reality that is Todos Santos. Angular white cows meander the side roads, fresh fruits, art galleries, and local people add texture to this tiny town. We stayed at the most adorable boutique hotel, Hotelito (under $100/night). A four unit hotel run by a European interior designer- Jenny, and her small staff of beautiful and incredibly hard working locals. We had breakfast (including vibrantly fresh mango, papaya and melon) on the patio of our hotel every morning, views of cacti perched on mountains, palm lined beaches all to ourselves, boogie boarding adventures, and a fun selection of diverse restaurants to choose from (many with veggie options). Yes there was garbage along the roads, yes there was a rooster extravaganza across the street from our hotel. (By the way roosters don't just crow at the crack of dawn. That is just their first crow. They continue, trying to outdo each other, until sundown). But all in all, it was a gorgeous few days of a new culture, language, experience, and I cannot say enough about our new favorite hotelito.

Coconutty


I have a coconut obsession. I admit it. I use coconut oil in cooking (Nutiva), I use coconut body lotion (Desert Essence Organics), I eat coconut energy bars (Organic Raw Food Bar), I wish I could take a bath in a pool of coconut milk while eating coconut cookies. So when I discovered ice cream made from coconut milk I literally jumped for joy. It is fluffy yummy and coconutty. They also make yogurt which I can't wait to try. Dairy free, soy free, full of probiotics, vitamins, and coconut goodness. I hope this starts a coconut craze that fuels my addiction further.
